Doc. PhDr. Má dlhoročné skúsenosti s pregraduálnym i celoživotným vzdelávaním učiteľov angličtiny. Vďaka Fulbrightovmu grantu pôsobila na Montclair State University v New Jersey, kde vyučovala kurz didaktiky angličtiny. V jej rozsiahlej publikačnej činnosti dominujú práce zamerané na humanizáciu vyučovania cudzích jazykov, rešpektovania osobnosti a potrieb študenta a hľadanie možností zefektívňovania učenia sa jazykov. Za najvýznamnejšie možno považovať monografie Teória a prax vyučovania gramatiky cudzích jazykov, Individuálne osobitosti pri učení sa cudzích jazykov I, Styly a strategie ve výuce cizích jazyků (Lojová, Vlčková) a Teoretické východiská vyučovania angličtiny v primárnom vzdelávaní (Lojová, Straková).
Jej nesmierne skúsenosti, bohatá publikačná činnosť, autorstvo inšpiratívnych inovácií vo vyučovaní anglického jazyka, účasť na mnohých medzinárodných konferenciách i úcta a uznanie v odborných kruhoch na Slovensku a v Európe svedčia o veľkosti jej ducha. Úprimnosť a neustála ochota pomôcť zasa odzrkadľuje jej ľudskosť a lásku k životu. A bojovnosť, s akou sa vie postaviť za správnu vec bez ohľadu na dôsledky, ktoré jej tento boj prinesie, svedčí o jej odvahe.
Jana graduated from Comenius University, Faculty of Education, with a diploma in English language and literature, and a doctorate in English methodology. She is characterised by her incessant thirst for knowledge and a belief that within every person the potential for the accomplishment of great things lies dormant. Her professional and personal growth is due to great effort, immense self-discipline and hard work each and every day. She believes that true beauty and wisdom can be obtained not only within arriving at a destination, but through the adventurous journey that enables you to reach your desired destination. Jana lives and breathes this philosophy, and is therefore the natural authority and driving force behind all Harmony innovations. As a result, she initiates many local and international projects aimed at developing cross-cultural and international networking within ELT, education, communication and leadership.
Jana's interests include reading, travelling and meeting new people. As a formerly competitive handball player, she now through yoga seeks an inner calm, and a balanced and harmonious lifestyle.
What makes her special?
As one of few researchers in Slovakia, she focused her applied research on Storytelling as a tool to improve pupils' listening skills. She lectured on English language teaching at the University of Lepizig, spent 3 months in the USA and over a year in Britain, where she returns regularly. She loves travelling, learning and discovering new things in life as well as in ELT. Her main ambition is for every pupil and student of English in Slovakia to have motivated, creative, inovative, enthusiastic, and smiling teachers whose main goal will be not to TEACH, but for every pupil or student in their classroom to LEARN something.
